The South Korean Foreign Ministry said today that three vessels, including a South Korean dredging vessel, were detained by the Yemeni Houthi armed group on the western coast of Kamalang on the 18th. There are 2 Koreans in their 60s.
South Korea’s joint news agency pointed out that Houthi has indicated that it will release Korean vessels after confirmation.
The South Korean ship is currently anchored in Saleef, and 16 people on board are detained by the Houthi armed group.
The South Korean government has dispatched the Qinghai Force “Jiang Yanzan” destroyer to the incident. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the destroyers will respond flexibly to specific situations.
