France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom are deeply concerned about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement of possible annexation of areas in the West Bank, particularly the Jordan Valley and the northern shore of the Dead Sea. In a joint statement issued tonight, states said the declaration, if implemented, would constitute a serious breach of international law. The statement noted that the five countries call on all parties to refrain from actions that contravene international law and that would jeopardize the two-state solution.
